The Houston Mayor's Office for People With Disabilities
The mission of the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) is to serve as the primary advocate for the rights and needs of citizens with disabilities.

The Houston Mayor’s Committee for Employment of People with Disabilities (HMCEPD) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that promotes employment opportunities for, and public awareness and special needs of people with disabilities.
The HMCEPD is an all-volunteer citizen driven organization dedicated to the full inclusion of individuals with disabilities in our community.
In October 2012, the Houston Mayor's Committee and the Texas Governor's Committee on People with Disablities hosted the 2012 Lex Frieden Employment Awards.Each year during the month of October (National Disability Employment Awareness Month), a local committee in Texas hosts the Annual Employment Awards Ceremony, and the winners in each of several categories are introduced to an appreciative audience. Award categories include large, medium, and small employers, as well as non-profit employers, the Entrepreneurship Award, Martha Arbuckle Award and the Governor's Trophy.
